Low-rise window cleaning (anything up to four storeys, reachable from the ground) is now done almost exclusively with reach-and-wash pure water systems in the UK. The principle is simple physics: deionised water (0-1 ppm TDS) is a natural solvent, it dissolves dirt on contact, and because it has no dissolved minerals, it dries spot-free. No squeegee needed, no chemicals needed, no detergent residue to attract dirt. Windows stay clean longer than with traditional methods.
Our carbon fibre poles reach up to 18 metres (about 4 storeys) from the ground, eliminating the need for ladders on 95% of low-rise jobs. This is safer for our crew, safer for your property, and faster — we don't need to spend time on ladder setup, footings, and harness checks. The pole operator works from the pavement or garden, brushes the glass, rinses with pure water, and moves on. A typical three-bed semi-detached house takes 30-45 minutes for a full external window clean.
We clean all window types — sash and case (common in Edinburgh tenements), casement, tilt-and-turn, fixed picture windows, leaded lights, Georgian bars, Velux roof windows, conservatory roofs, and glass extensions. For listed building sash and case windows with delicate glazing bars, we use a soft-bristle brush head and lower flow rate to avoid any risk of water ingress past the putty. Pure water is non-corrosive and won't damage frames, sills or surrounding masonry.

External glass cleaning
All external glass cleaned with pure water reach-and-wash. Includes frames, sills, transoms and mullions. We don't just clean the glass — we clean the whole window. Stubborn stains (bird mess, tree sap, paint overspray) treated with a non-abrasive scouring pad.
Conservatory & glass roof
Conservatory roofs, glass extensions, lantern roofs and orangeries cleaned with low-flow pure water and a soft brush. Includes gutters, ridge caps, finials and crevice cleaning. Polycarbonate roofs cleaned with a manufacturer-approved method.
Frames & sills
uPVC, timber and aluminium frames scrubbed with a non-scratch pad to remove green algae, traffic film and oxidation. Sills wiped down and weep holes checked for blockages. Included as standard — not an add-on.
Velux & roof windows
Velux, Fakro and Keylite roof windows cleaned with an angled pure-water brush head. We don't walk on roofs — we use extension poles from the eaves or a cherry picker where required. Includes hinge cleaning and mechanism check.
Leaded & Georgian bar
Leaded lights and Georgian bar windows cleaned with a soft-bristle brush at low flow rate. We don't use abrasive scouring pads on leaded lights — the lead is soft and scratches easily. We test-clean a small inconspicuous area first.
Internal window cleaning (add-on)
Internal glass cleaned with traditional squeegee and applicator (pure water isn't practical indoors). Includes frames, sills, and cobweb removal. Usually booked as a one-off twice a year rather than on every visit.
