The bin no longer smells like one.
Bins are the smelliest, germiest, most under-cleaned item in any home or business. Food residue, liquid leaks, maggot risk in summer, rat attraction, the lingering smell every time you lift the lid. Our bin cleaning add-on hygienically washes every bin inside and out — wheelie bins (240L, 660L, 1100L), kitchen bins, recycling bins, food waste caddies, compost bins. Hot water pressure wash, EN 14476 virucidal disinfectant, deodoriser, dry. Maggot removal if needed. Add to your recurring clean or book as a one-off. PVG-checked crew, £5m liability.

More than just a tidy-up.
A genuine baseline reset for your home, delivered by people who actually know it.
Bins are the smelliest, germiest, most under-cleaned item in any home or business. The average kitchen bin has 1,000x more bacteria than a toilet seat (genuinely — studies have measured this). Food residue ferments in the bottom. Liquid leaks accumulate under the bin liner. Maggots appear in summer (fly eggs hatch in 8-24 hours in warm weather). Rats and foxes are attracted to the smell. The lingering bin smell hits you every time you lift the lid — and the smell permeates the kitchen even when the lid is closed. Most people never clean their bins — they just put a new liner in and hope. Hope is not a strategy.
Our bin cleaning add-on hygienically washes every bin inside and out. Hot water pressure wash (60°C water at high pressure — removes food residue and fat). EN 14476 virucidal disinfectant (proven effective against enveloped and non-enveloped viruses, bacteria, fungi — including E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Norovirus). Deodoriser (a light scent that neutralises rather than masks — we use a citrus-based deodoriser, not a floral perfume that just covers the smell). Bin dried (so the new liner doesn't slip and the bin doesn't smell damp). Maggot removal (in summer — we remove them, disinfect the bin, and advise on prevention). Lid, handle, wheels (on wheelie bins), and the bin exterior all cleaned.
We clean every type of bin: wheelie bins (240L household, 660L and 1100L commercial), kitchen bins (step-on, swing-top, sensor bins), recycling bins (mixed recycling, paper, glass), food waste caddies (5L, 25L indoor — the smelliest bin in the house, requires the most attention), compost bins (outdoor — different protocol, no EN 14476 as it would kill the composting bacteria, we use a biological cleaner instead). Add it to your recurring clean (monthly is ideal, fortnightly in summer), book as a one-off (annual deep clean), or use our commercial bin cleaning service for businesses (weekly, fortnightly, or monthly schedules). PVG-checked crew, £5m public liability.
Every visit, room by room.
A baseline reset of your home's high-traffic zones — refined after the first three cleans to match your priorities.
Hot water pressure wash — 60°C at high pressure
Bin interior hot-water pressure washed at 60°C — hot enough to melt fat and food residue, but not so hot it warps the plastic. High pressure (150 bar) jet removes stuck-on residue from the bin bottom and corners. Bin exterior pressure washed — handles, lid, wheels (on wheelie bins), base. Pressure washing is the foundation — it removes the physical residue that harbours bacteria and smells. The wash water is collected (we use a bin-cleaning vehicle with a reclaim system, or we contain it for businesses without vehicle access). The bin is genuinely clean after pressure washing — not just 'looks clean'.
EN 14476 virucidal disinfectant
After pressure washing, the bin interior is disinfected with EN 14476 virucidal chemistry (proven effective against enveloped and non-enveloped viruses, bacteria, fungi — including E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Norovirus). Chemistry applied by sprayer for full coverage. Contact time per manufacturer (typically 5 minutes). Bin lid (top and underside — the highest-touch surface) disinfected. Bin handle disinfected. Bin exterior disinfected. The disinfectant is the public-health defence — it kills the pathogens that pressure washing alone can't remove. Particularly important for food waste caddies (the smelliest, germiest bin in the house).
Deodoriser — citrus-based, neutralises not masks
After disinfection, a citrus-based deodoriser is applied. The deodoriser neutralises odour molecules at the chemical level (vs air fresheners that just mask the smell with perfume). Light citrus scent (not overpowering — we don't want your bin to smell like a perfume counter, we want it to not smell at all). Deodoriser applied to bin interior, lid, and exterior. For particularly smelly bins (food waste caddies, commercial kitchen bins), we may apply a second dose and leave it to work. The deodoriser is the finishing touch — your bin will smell neutral, not 'binny'.
Maggot removal & prevention advice
In summer (May-September), maggots in the bin are common — fly eggs hatch in 8-24 hours in warm weather. If we find maggots, we remove them (pressure wash flushes them out), disinfect the bin (kills any remaining eggs), and provide prevention advice: keep the bin lid closed, rinse food packaging before binning, freeze meat/fish scraps until bin day, use a bin liner (never put loose food in the bin), consider a food waste caddy with a sealed lid for indoor food scraps. Maggot removal is included at no extra charge — it's a summer reality and we handle it. Prevention advice is genuinely useful.
Lid, handle, wheels & exterior detail
Every part of the bin cleaned — not just the interior. Lid: top and underside disinfected (the underside is the highest-touch surface — you lift it every time you use the bin). Handle: disinfected (high-touch, especially on wheelie bins you wheel to the kerb). Wheels (on wheelie bins): cleaned and lubricated (sticky wheels make bin-day harder). Wheelie bin axle: wiped. Bin exterior: pressure washed and disinfected. Bin base (the part that sits on the ground): cleaned. For sensor bins (kitchen bins with motion sensors), the sensor is wiped gently (no liquid near the electronics). For step-on bins, the pedal mechanism is wiped.
Bin dried — liner-ready
Bin dried thoroughly after cleaning — either air-dried (in summer, 30-60 minutes) or towel-dried (we use microfibre cloths, year-round). Drying matters: a wet bin makes the new liner slip and bunch, and a damp bin smells musty. Once dry, a fresh liner is fitted (we'll fit it, or you can — your preference). For wheelie bins, the lid is left slightly open for 30 minutes after cleaning to allow final air-drying. The bin is ready to use — clean, dry, deodorised, lined. The difference is immediate — the next time you lift the lid, you'll notice the absence of smell.
Add-ons available on any visit: oven cleaning, fridge clean-out, inside cabinets, laundry folding, ironing, pet area sanitisation, window interiors, and more — all bookable from your client portal.
From quote to first clean in 48 hours.
No pushy sales calls. No multi-week onboarding. Just a clear, four-step path to a cleaner home.
Add the bin cleaning add-on
Add bin cleaning to your recurring clean (monthly is ideal, fortnightly in summer), or book as a one-off. Specify which bins (kitchen bin, wheelie bins, recycling bins, food caddy, compost bin). We'll quote the time (typically 30-45 minutes for a household set of bins, longer for commercial) and confirm. Pre-visit reminder sent 24 hours before. For wheelie bin cleaning, please ensure bins are accessible (not behind a locked gate, not full of rubbish — empty them on bin-day, we clean the day after).
Crew arrives & bin audit
Crew arrives at the scheduled time. Bin audit: which bins to clean, current state (any visible maggots, heavy soiling, damage). Bin liners removed and bagged. Any loose waste (in wheelie bins) bagged. Bin moved to a suitable cleaning location (driveway, yard, or designated wash area for commercial). For wheelie bin cleaning with our vehicle, the bin is lifted onto the vehicle's lifting mechanism. H&S check — we contain the wash water (never let it run into drains or onto neighbours' property).
Hot wash, disinfect, deodorise, dry
Bin interior and exterior hot-water pressure washed (60°C, 150 bar). Food residue and fat removed. EN 14476 virucidal disinfectant applied to interior, lid, handle, exterior. Contact time 5 minutes. Citrus-based deodoriser applied. Maggots removed if present (summer). Bin dried (microfibre or air-dried). Fresh liner fitted (your preference). Lid left slightly open for final air-drying. The whole process takes 10-15 minutes per bin (longer for heavily soiled bins).
Walk-through & prevention advice
Crew lead walks you through the cleaned bins. Any damage flagged (cracked lid, broken wheel, split bin — we'll recommend a replacement). Maggot prevention advice (if applicable). Photo summary uploaded to your client portal. 100% satisfaction guarantee — if the bin still smells within 48 hours, we'll come back and re-clean it free. Add bin cleaning to your recurring clean (monthly or fortnightly) — schedule via the portal. Commercial bin cleaning schedules available (weekly, fortnightly, monthly).

“Monthly bin cleaning as part of my recurring clean. The difference is immediate — no more bin smell in the kitchen. Food caddy cleaned weekly in summer (no more maggots). Wheelie bin cleaned monthly. Crew hot-washes, disinfects, deodorises, dries. Fresh liner fitted. £14/bin, 4 bins, monthly. £56/month for a smell-free kitchen and no maggots. Worth every penny.”
“Restaurant bins — 4 x 240L wheelie bins (general, recycling, glass, food waste). Maundy Clean clean them weekly, outside opening hours (6am Sunday). Hot wash, EN 14476 (EHO compliant), deodorise. EHO inspection last quarter — zero findings on bin hygiene. Maggot prevention advice genuinely useful (freeze meat scraps until bin day). £56/week for 4 bins. Top-tier commercial service.”
“Summer maggot problem in the wheelie bin — horrifying. Maundy Clean came out, hot-washed the bin (flushed the maggots out), disinfected, deodorised. Prevention advice: freeze meat scraps until bin day. Followed the advice — no maggots since. Monthly clean now, fortnightly in summer. £14/bin. The smell is gone. The maggots are gone. Brilliant service.”
