A sacred space clean enough for worship.
We clean churches, mosques, gurdwaras, synagogues, temples, and faith community centres across Scotland. Respectful protocols for sacred spaces, culturally-aware crews, and flexible scheduling around worship times. PVG-checked, eco-friendly, community-minded.

Not a generalist. Not a franchise template.
A genuine sector-led protocol delivered by crews who know your regulatory landscape, your audit rhythm, and the cost of getting it wrong.
Faith-based facility cleaning is a discipline of respect. These buildings are sacred spaces — places of worship, prayer, meditation, community gathering, and significant life events (weddings, funerals, baptisms, festivals). The cleaning has to be done with cultural awareness, religious sensitivity, and operational flexibility around worship times. Maundy Clean has spent over a decade inside Scottish faith communities — from historic Church of Scotland kirks to urban mosques, suburban gurdwaras, and city-centre synagogues.
Our faith-based division operates a flexible-schedule model. We clean around worship times — typically after services or on the facility's quietest day. We use respectful protocols (no cleaning during prayer, no equipment in sacred areas without authorisation, no disturbance of religious texts or objects). Crews are briefed on the specific faith tradition of each facility — what's sacred, what's off-limits, what requires removal of footwear, what requires head covering, what requires gender-matched teams.
We understand the rhythm of faith facilities: weekly worship (Sunday for churches, Friday for mosques, Saturday for synagogues), daily prayers (mosques 5 times daily, gurdwaras continuous), festivals (Christmas, Easter, Ramadan, Eid, Diwail, Vaisakhi, Passover, High Holy Days), life events (weddings, funerals, baptisms, naming ceremonies), and community activities (food banks, youth clubs, elderly lunches, language schools). Our crews work around all of it — flexible scheduling, festival surge capacity, and respectful discretion.
The frameworks we work to.
Every protocol, every checklist, every audit trail — mapped to the standards your regulator expects to see.
Our protocols align to HSE guidance on health and safety in places of worship — including slip-risk management, chemical safety, and access for people with disabilities.
Every product carries a current COSHH datasheet. We use low-fragrance, eco-friendly products as standard — many faith communities have environmental stewardship commitments.
Faith facilities have varied flooring (stone, wood, carpet) and high footfall during services. Anti-slip treatment, wet-floor signage, and spill response aligned to HSE SLIPS.
Many faith facilities are listed buildings. We use conservation-appropriate products and methods for stone, wood, metal, and stained glass — no abrasives, no harsh chemicals.
We include water outlet flushing, temperature checks, and showerhead descaling in facilities with shower rooms or kitchens.
Many faith communities have environmental commitments (Laudato Si', Islamic environmental teachings, Eco-Sangha). We align to those commitments with eco-labelled chemicals and reduced-waste protocols.

The pain points you stop worrying about.
We've spent years inside faith-based facilities operations. These are the issues we get called about most — and the protocols we've built to eliminate them.
Sacred space respect
Faith facilities are sacred. Our crews are briefed on the specific tradition — what's sacred, what's off-limits, what requires removal of footwear, what requires head covering, what requires gender-matched teams. Respect is non-negotiable.
Cultural and religious awareness
Crews briefed on faith-specific protocols — Quran handling (never touch without wudu), Torah respect (never touch the scroll), Gurdwara protocols (head covering, no tobacco), church communion items (never moved). Cultural awareness training included.
Worship schedule flexibility
Friday prayers, Sunday services, Saturday Shabbat, daily prayers 5 times — every faith has different worship times. Our scheduling flexes around them. No cleaning during worship. Festival surge capacity available.
Heritage building conservation
Many faith facilities are listed buildings — historic stone, wood, metal, stained glass. We use conservation-appropriate methods — no abrasives, no harsh chemicals, no high-pressure washing on delicate surfaces.
Festival surge capacity
Ramadan, Eid, Diwali, Christmas, Easter, Vaisakhi — festivals bring high footfall and surge cleaning demand. We provide surge capacity with culturally-aware crews, no notice required for existing clients during festivals.
Volunteer-led budget pressure
Many faith facilities are volunteer-led with tight budgets. Our frequency optimisation reviews typically deliver 8–12% cost-out without dropping any community-critical task. Eco-friendly protocols align with stewardship values.
From first call to first clean in 7 days.
A structured mobilisation that respects your operational continuity — no gap in service, no surprises in scope.
Facility walk-through
Our regional manager walks the facility with the faith leader or facilities coordinator. We map zones (worship area, community rooms, kitchen, WCs, entrance), discuss sacred/off-limits areas, and review worship schedule.
Respectful schedule & quote
Within 3 business days you receive a written schedule built around worship times, a COSHH register with eco-friendly products, and a fixed monthly fee. Festival surge capacity included.
Crew induction & cultural briefing
A PVG-checked, culturally-aware crew is inducted to the facility, briefed on faith-specific protocols by the faith leader, and the first clean is supervised end-to-end.
Ongoing delivery & community liaison
Scheduled cleaning around worship times, festival surge capacity, and quarterly review meetings with the faith leader or facilities coordinator.
The difference is operational.
We don't win contracts on price. We win them on the things that show up in your audit scores, your staff feedback, and your bottom line.

Faith-Based Facilities — the questions we hear most.
Crews are explicitly briefed on sacred items and religious texts — they don't touch them. Quran is never touched without wudu (and we don't perform wudu, so we never touch it). Torah scrolls are never touched. Gurdwara Guru Granth Sahib is never touched. Church communion items are never moved. Hindu and Buddhist sacred images are never moved or wiped. If a sacred item needs cleaning, the faith leader or designated community member does it — we provide the eco-friendly products.
