Ward areas cleaned to NHS National Cleaning Standards. Patient bays: bed frame wiped (after each patient — changeover clean), locker wiped, over-bed table sanitised, chair wiped, floor mopped (detergent then disinfectant), window sill dusted. Side rooms (isolation rooms): full PPE protocols, dedicated equipment (no cross-contamination), terminal clean after patient discharge (deep clean with hypochlorite or equivalent). Nurse stations: surfaces wiped, keyboards and phones sanitised (high-touch), floors. Treatment rooms: clinical surfaces disinfected, floors. Sluice and pan rooms: full infection control protocol, bedpan washer wiped, macerator cleaned, surfaces disinfected.

Theatres and clinical procedure rooms cleaned to theatre-standard protocols. Between cases: table wiped with disinfectant, instruments tray wiped, floors spot-cleaned, surfaces in immediate area disinfected. End-of-list terminal clean: full theatre deep clean — every surface (walls, floors, ceiling if accessible, lights, equipment, table, fittings) disinfected with appropriate product (usually hypochlorite or quaternary ammonium depending on protocol), floors deep-scrubbed, theatre ready for next day's list. We follow local theatre protocols absolutely (every hospital has its own, often based on the surgical speciality). Specialist theatre teams only — these aren't jobs for general cleaners.

Outpatient departments: consulting rooms (examination couch sanitised between patients, surfaces disinfected, floors), treatment rooms (clinical surfaces, instrument trays, floors), waiting areas (seating, floors, toys in paediatric areas — these need particular attention). Diagnostic areas: radiology (specific protocols for MRI, CT, ultrasound — no magnetic materials in MRI, careful with equipment), endoscopy (specific decontamination protocols — see HTM 01-06). A&E and urgent care: 24/7 cleaning (we provide continuous cover), surge capacity for major incidents (we can mobilise additional cleaners at short notice), specific protocols for trauma areas, resus, and mental health assessment rooms.

Strict colour-coded equipment: red for toilets and sanitary areas, blue for general surfaces, green for kitchens and food preparation, yellow for isolation rooms and infectious cases. Equipment never crosses colour zones — strictly enforced. Pathogen-specific protocols: MRSA (hypochlorite 1,000ppm, contact time per protocol), C. difficile (hypochlorite 5,000ppm — stronger, longer contact time), Norovirus (specific outbreak protocols — cohort cleaning, no cross-contamination), CPE (carbapenemase-producing enterobacteriaceae — strict isolation protocols), Covid-19 (per current PHE/Health Protection Scotland guidance). Each protocol specifies the product, dilution, contact time, and PPE required.

Audit-ready documentation for Healthcare Improvement Scotland inspection. Every clean logged (cleaner name, time, area, products used, any issues flagged). Clean logs retained per NHS Scotland requirements. Documentation ready for HIS inspection, internal audit, and clinical governance review. We participate in audit and inspection (we attend if requested, we provide additional documentation if requested). We track HAI rates in areas we clean (transparent reporting — we want to know if there's an issue, and we'll investigate immediately). We've helped hospitals achieve and maintain HIS compliance, pass external audits, and reduce HAI rates in their areas. We treat our documentation as a clinical safety tool, not a bureaucratic exercise.

Our staff are PVG-checked (essential for healthcare — patient contact, vulnerable adults). Trained in infection control: hand hygiene (WHO 5 moments), PPE use (correct donning and doffing — critical for safety), sharps handling and disposal (BS EN 1701 protocols), spill response (blood, vomit, urine — biohazard protocols), patient interaction (dignity, respect, communication). They understand the seriousness of their work — a missed surface can cause a HAI that kills a vulnerable patient. We carry £10m public liability (suitable for major healthcare contracts).
