Seminar rooms: end-of-day full clean. Research laboratories: BSL-1 and BSL-2 protocol — separate chemistry, separate equipment, no cross-contamination between labs. We don't clean BSL-3 or higher (that requires specialist biosafety contractors). Libraries: 24/7 rotation with discrete cleaning staff, silent-zone protocol (no vacuuming during quiet hours — switched to microfibre floor pads). Halls of residence: communal kitchen and bathroom daily, individual rooms weekly (term-time) or end-of-tenancy deep clean (between terms). Sports facilities: changing rooms, gym equipment disinfection, pool surround. Food outlets: FSA-compliant kitchen and FOH. Admin offices: corporate standard.
We work with Scottish universities through the APUC (Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges) framework. End-of-day full clean: floor swept and mopped, all seats wipe-down on visible soiling, all touch-points disinfected (door handles, light switches, AV controls), whiteboard deep-clean, rubbish out. 500-seat lecture theatre: 30-45 minutes end-of-day. 50-seat seminar room: 15-20 minutes.
Research laboratory BSL-1 & BSL-2 protocol
Biosafety Level 1 and 2 laboratories cleaned with separate chemistry, separate equipment, and a separate protocol from general spaces. No cross-contamination between labs. Bench surfaces disinfected with a laboratory-grade chemistry (typically 70% ethanol or a quaternary-ammonium alternative). Floor mopped with separate mop and bucket. Sink and hand-wash areas detailed. We do not clean BSL-3 or higher — that requires specialist biosafety contractors.
Library 24/7 rotation & silent-zone protocol
Library cleaned on a 24/7 rotation with discrete cleaning staff. Silent-zone protocol: no vacuuming during quiet hours (typically 9am-6pm during term) — switched to microfibre floor pads for silent cleaning. Group-study zones: standard cleaning schedule. PC clusters: keyboard, mouse, and screen disinfection on every clean (high-touch-point). Book shelving: dust-vacuumed with a soft-brush attachment, books never removed without consent. Critical for student satisfaction scores.
Halls of residence — communal & individual
Communal areas (kitchens, bathrooms, corridors, common rooms) cleaned daily during term. Individual rooms cleaned weekly during term (bed made, floor vacuumed and mopped, bathroom refreshed, bin emptied, surfaces wiped). End-of-tenancy deep clean between terms: full strip-down, kitchen degrease, bathroom descale, carpet extraction, oven clean. Damage and defect flagging — important for student deposit disputes. PVG-checked operatives essential.
Sports facilities, food outlets & admin
Sports facilities: changing rooms deep-cleaned daily, gym equipment disinfected on every clean (high-touch-point critical), pool surround (if applicable) cleaned with the correct chemistry.
