Cotton and polycotton shirts ironed in sections for the hotel finish. Stage 1: collar ironed flat, then folded in half and pressed. Stage 2: cuffs ironed flat, then button-side and buttonhole-side pressed separately. Stage 3: yoke (the back panel between shoulders) ironed. Stage 4: body ironed — front left, back, front right — with buttons navigated carefully. Stage 5: sleeves ironed — flat from cuff to shoulder, both sides. Steam iron throughout. Spray bottle for stubborn creases. Shirts hung on hangers immediately (we supply hangers if needed, £1 each). 5 shirts per hour, per operative. Crisp, hotel-standard finish.

Bedding ironed folded for the crisp hotel feel. Fitted sheets: fold in thirds lengthwise, iron each fold, fold in thirds crosswise, iron each fold. Flat sheets: same technique. Duvet covers: same technique (more substantial, takes longer). Pillowcases: iron flat, fold in thirds. Iron temperature: high for cotton, medium-high for polycotton, low for synthetic blends. Steam throughout. Bedding ironing takes 30-45 minutes per set (fitted sheet, flat sheet, duvet cover, 2 pillowcases). The crisp hotel feel — most clients can't go back to unironed bedding once they've experienced it.

Linen (sheets, tablecloths, napkins, shirts) ironed on high with steam — linen needs heat and moisture to look crisp. Dampen slightly if very creased. Synthetics (polyester blouses, nylon, acrylic) ironed on low — synthetics melt on high heat. Test on an inside seam first. Delicates (silk, lace) ironed on a silk setting (low, with a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric — direct heat shines silk permanently). Steam-only for very delicate items (hold the iron just above the fabric and steam). We never iron rubber prints (they melt), swimwear (the elastic degrades), or dry-clean-only silk (we'll flag it for the dry cleaner).

Pleated garments (kilts, pleated skirts, pleated trousers) ironed with precision. Pleats set with a damp pressing cloth and pressed — never iron directly on the pleat edge (it shines the fabric). Each pleat pressed individually, in order, holding the next pleat out of the way. Pleated kilts ironed per traditional technique (the pleats should all fall the same direction, with the same depth). Pleated skirts ironed per the existing pleat pattern (we don't create new pleats — we set existing ones). Pleated trousers ironed with the existing crease. 1 pleated garment per 15-20 minutes per operative. Pleats that last — the way they should.

School uniforms ironed per garment type — shirts in sections, trousers with crease, skirts pleated, blazers lightly pressed (mostly steamed — ironing can shine wool blazers), ties not ironed (they lose their shape — steamed if creased). Term-time weekly ironing for 2-3 children is typically 1.5-2 hours. Workwear: chefs' jackets ironed flat (heavy fabric, takes time), bar aprons ironed flat with crease, hospitality shirts ironed in sections, hi-vis tabards ironed on low (synthetic). Workwear ironing per industry standard — the look your employer expects.

For very delicate items (silk, chiffon, velvet, beaded garments), we offer steam-only finishing. Steam-only: hold the iron just above the fabric and steam — the steam relaxes the creases without contact. Velvet steamed (never ironed — ironing crushes the pile). Beaded garments steamed from the inside (never iron the beading — it melts). For wool suits and jackets, we offer light pressing (mostly steamed, with a pressing cloth for stubborn creases). We never iron a wool suit on high (it shines), never iron a wool suit without a pressing cloth (it leaves marks), never iron a structured jacket flat (it loses its shape). Steaming is gentler than ironing — and often better.
