We clean solar panels using the same deionised pure-water system we use on windows — 0 ppm total dissolved solids, no detergents, no abrasives, no chemicals. A soft bristle brush head on a carbon-fibre pole agitates the contaminants, then pure-water rinses them away. When the water dries, there's literally nothing left to streak or spot. Critically, we never use a pressure washer on solar panels — the 200+ bar jet can force water past panel seals and into the junction box, voiding your warranty. Our flow rate is a gentle 6 litres per minute at brush-head pressure.
For roof-mounted arrays we use a 7-metre or 10-metre carbon-fibre fed-pole from ground level, or for higher roofs an IRATA-certified rope-access team. For ground-mount arrays and solar farms we use a rolling brush system with a 12-metre reach. Every clean ends with a visual inspection of the panel faces, junction boxes, and (where accessible) the inverter generation log — so you can see the efficiency recovery on the inverter display within 24 hours of the clean.

Pre-clean generation reading
Before we touch a panel, we photograph your inverter display or app's current generation reading. After the clean we photograph it again — usually 24-48 hours later in comparable weather. You see the efficiency recovery with your own eyes, in your own system. Not a claim, a measurement.
Pure-water brush clean
Soft bristle brush on a carbon-fibre pole, fed with 0 ppm deionised water. Every panel face agitated and rinsed. No detergents, no abrasives, no chemicals, no pressure-washing. Flow rate capped at 6 litres/minute — gentle enough to protect panel seals and the anti-reflective coating.
Bird dropping pre-treatment
Stubborn bird droppings are pre-soaked with pure water for 5-10 minutes before brushing — they lift off without scrubbing that could micro-scratch the coating. Calcium-rich droppings (pigeons, gulls) may need a second pass. We never use scrapers on solar glass.
Lichen & salt spray removal
Coastal arrays often build up salt crusts; rural arrays grow lichen at the panel edges. Both are treatable with a soft brush and pure water, but stubborn lichen may need a follow-up visit at 6 weeks (included free within 50 miles). We'll flag this at quote stage rather than promise it on the day.
Junction box & frame inspection
We visually inspect the aluminium frame edges, junction boxes, and cable runs (where accessible). We're not electricians and won't touch the wiring — but we will flag any rodent damage, weathered seals, or water ingress signs for your installer to address. Free of charge, no obligation.
Post-clean generation comparison
24-48 hours after the clean (in comparable weather) we'll text you a reminder to check your inverter reading. We're happy to receive a photo of the new reading and document the recovery percentage in your client file. Most domestic customers see a 12-25% recovery.
