A nursery clean enough for a baby to crawl on.
We clean private nurseries, local authority nurseries, preschools, and playgroups across Scotland. Care Inspectorate early years alignment, with protocols designed for children who crawl, mouth toys, and explore at floor level. PVG-checked, low-allergen, child-safe.

Not a generalist. Not a franchise template.
A genuine sector-led protocol delivered by crews who know your regulatory landscape, your audit rhythm, and the cost of getting it wrong.
Nursery cleaning is a discipline of constant vigilance. The children are at floor level most of the day — crawling, playing, mouthing toys, eating snacks, napping on mats. Every product you use has to be child-safe; every surface they touch has to be sanitised; every toy they mouth has to be cleaned. The Care Inspectorate inspects without warning, and parents scrutinise every detail. Maundy Clean has spent over a decade inside Scottish nurseries, from 20-place village playgroups to 120-place corporate nurseries.
Our nursery division operates a child-safe protocol model. Every product is independently certified for use in early years settings — no chlorine-based sprays near soft furnishings, no quaternary ammonium compounds on toys that go in mouths, no strong-fragrance products that trigger asthma. We use a separate colour-coded system for toilets, food prep areas, general play areas, and sleep rooms. Mop heads are replaced between zones, and cloths are single-use for high-risk surfaces.
We understand the rhythm of a nursery: morning drop-off from 7:30am, structured play, snack time, outdoor play (with muddy wellies!), lunch, nap time, afternoon activities, pick-up from 4pm. Our crews work before opening (typically 6am start) and after close (typically 6:30pm start) — never during operating hours unless it's an emergency. Sleep room cleaning is done with the quietest possible equipment. Outdoor play area cleaning happens on weekends.
The frameworks we work to.
Every protocol, every checklist, every audit trail — mapped to the standards your regulator expects to see.
Our protocols align to Care Inspectorate early years standards — covering environment cleanliness, infection control, and food hygiene in nursery settings.
Every product carries a current COSHH datasheet and is independently certified for use around children. No chlorine-based sprays on soft furnishings. No quats on mouthing toys.
Snack and meal preparation areas cleaned to FSA SFBB standard — the same standard your kitchen is inspected against by Environmental Health.
Bodily fluid response (vomit, faeces, urine) uses EN 14476 virucidal disinfectant — effective against norovirus, rotavirus, and other common nursery pathogens.
Every crew member completes annual child protection training aligned to Scotland's National Guidance, with specific briefings on early years safeguarding concerns.
We include water outlet flushing, temperature checks, and showerhead/nappy-change mat spray nozzle descaling in our scope — critical for nurseries with water play.

The pain points you stop worrying about.
We've spent years inside nurseries & preschools operations. These are the issues we get called about most — and the protocols we've built to eliminate them.
Child-safe product selection
Children mouth toys, crawl on floors, and have sensitive skin. Every product is independently certified for early years use. No chlorine on soft furnishings, no quats on mouthing toys, no strong fragrances that trigger asthma.
Safeguarding in an early years setting
Every cleaner is PVG-checked and completes annual child protection training. They're briefed on the nursery's designated safeguarding lead and trained to report any concern immediately. They never work alone with a child.
Outbreak response — norovirus, hand-foot-mouth, chickenpox
Nurseries are pathogen hotspots. Our outbreak response team mobilises within 4 hours with dedicated equipment and documented stand-down protocols coordinated with the nursery manager.
Operating-hours sensitivity
Crews work before opening (6am start) or after close (6:30pm start) — never during operating hours. Sleep room cleaning uses the quietest possible equipment. Outdoor play area cleaning happens on weekends.
Floor-level cleaning focus
Children live at floor level. Our protocol gives special attention to floors, low-level touchpoints, and soft furnishings — the surfaces children actually touch, not just the ones adults notice.
Tight nursery margins
Private nurseries operate on tight margins, and funded entitlement rates are fixed. Our frequency optimisation reviews typically deliver 8–12% cost-out without dropping any Care Inspectorate-critical task.
From first call to first clean in 7 days.
A structured mobilisation that respects your operational continuity — no gap in service, no surprises in scope.
Nursery walk-through
Our regional manager walks the nursery with the manager. We map zones (play, sleep, food prep, nappy change, outdoor), identify Care Inspectorate-critical areas, and discuss operating hours.
Child-safe schedule & quote
Within 2 business days you receive a written cleaning schedule with independently certified child-safe products, a COSHH register, and a fixed monthly fee. Deep cleans during closure periods quoted separately.
Crew induction & PVG clearance
PVG-checked, child-protection-trained crews are inducted to the nursery, introduced to staff and the safeguarding lead, and the first clean is supervised end-to-end.
Ongoing delivery & audit
Daily cleaning, outbreak response, Care Inspectorate audit prep, and quarterly review meetings. Deep cleans during Christmas, Easter, and summer closure periods.
The difference is operational.
We don't win contracts on price. We win them on the things that show up in your audit scores, your staff feedback, and your bottom line.

Operators who'd recommend us.
"Maundy Clean understands nurseries. The child-safe products, the floor-level cleaning focus, the nap-time sensitivity — all of it. Our last Care Inspectorate report scored 'excellent' on environment. That's a direct result of their work."
"Five nurseries, one account manager, one report. The consistency across the group makes Care Inspectorate inspections straightforward — same protocols, same records, same outcome. Outbreak response at our Dundee setting was textbook."
"Same crew, every evening. They know the children by name (from the photo wall), they know the play zones, they know which toys get mouthed most. That continuity is what nursery cleaning actually requires."

Nurseries & Preschools — the questions we hear most.
Every product is independently certified for use in early years settings. We avoid chlorine-based sprays on soft furnishings (respiratory irritant), avoid quaternary ammonium compounds on mouthing toys (residual chemical), and avoid strong-fragrance products (asthma trigger). For nurseries with children who have eczema or allergies, we use hypoallergenic protocols with independently certified products. Every product is pre-approved by the nursery manager and carries a current COSHH datasheet.
