Why logistics & warehousing needs a specialist

Not a generalist. Not a franchise template.

A genuine sector-led protocol delivered by crews who know your regulatory landscape, your audit rhythm, and the cost of getting it wrong.

Logistics and warehousing cleaning is a discipline of operational continuity. Distribution centres run 24/7, MHE (material handling equipment) operates continuously, throughput targets are tight, and any cleaning activity that blocks aisles or docks costs money. Maundy Clean has spent over a decade inside Scottish logistics — from 50,000 sq ft regional distribution centres to 500,000 sq ft national hubs.

Our logistics division operates a night-shift-dominant model. Day shift covers offices, canteens, WCs, and welfare areas — typically 2–4 cleaners. Night shift covers the operational area — aisle-by-aisle floor machine-scrubbing, dock-door sanitation, racking inspection cleaning, spill response — typically 6–20 cleaners depending on facility size. Shutdown team covers periodic deep cleans, racking deep clean, and high-level structure cleaning during planned outages.

We understand the rhythm of logistics: inbound receiving peaks, outbound dispatch peaks, shift handover 6am/6pm, MHE charging windows, planned maintenance shutdowns, peak season (Black Friday, Christmas), and SLA-driven dispatch deadlines. Our crews work around all of it — night shift cleans aisle-by-aisle while MHE is on charge, day shift handles welfare areas without disrupting operations, shutdown team covers deep cleans during planned outages. Every task is logged digitally and SLA-aligned.

Compliance & Standards

The frameworks we work to.

Every protocol, every checklist, every audit trail — mapped to the standards your regulator expects to see.

HSE
HSE Warehousing & Storage Guidance

Our protocols align to HSE warehousing and storage guidance — including MHE safety, pedestrian segregation, and slip-risk management.

PUWER
Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations

All cleaning equipment is PUWER-compliant, PAT-tested, and risk-assessed for use around MHE. Ride-on scrubber-dryers equipped with hazard lights and reversing alarms.

COSHH
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health

Every product carries a current COSHH datasheet. We use food-safe degreasers in cold storage areas and avoid silicones near MHE tyres.

HSE SLIPS
HSE Slips and Trips Guidance

Warehouse floors are high-slip-risk. Our floor care includes anti-slip treatment, spill response SLA, and wet-floor signage protocols aligned to HSE SLIPS guidance.

HSG 272
HSE Guidance on Legionnaires' Disease

We include water outlet flushing, temperature checks, and showerhead descaling in welfare areas and driver shower facilities (where present).

GDP
Good Distribution Practice (where applicable)

For pharmaceutical and food distribution, our cleaning aligns to GDP requirements for storage facilities — including temperature-controlled area sanitation.

Challenges we solve

The pain points you stop worrying about.

We've spent years inside logistics & warehousing operations. These are the issues we get called about most — and the protocols we've built to eliminate them.

24/7 operational continuity

Distribution centres run 24/7. Cleaning can't block aisles or docks. Our night-shift-dominant model cleans aisle-by-aisle while MHE is on charge, with documented re-opening protocols.

MHE-aware operation

MHE (forklifts, reach trucks, pallet trucks) operates continuously. Our crews are trained on MHE awareness — high-visibility PPE, reversing alarm awareness, pedestrian segregation, no-go zones during MHE movement.

Spill response and SLA pressure

Spills in a warehouse block aisles and risk slips. Our spill response SLA is 15 minutes during night shift, 30 minutes during day shift. Wet-floor signage deployed immediately, spill cleared, area dried.

Large-format complexity

500,000 sq ft distribution centres need a different operational model than 50,000 sq ft warehouses. Our crew-to-area ratios, scheduling, and supervision scale with facility size.

Peak season surge

Black Friday, Christmas, peak season — throughput doubles, cleaning frequency needs to double too. We provide surge capacity with 2 weeks' notice for existing clients.

Cost pressure in competitive logistics

Logistics margins are tight. Our frequency optimisation reviews typically deliver 8–12% cost-out without dropping any HSE-critical task or SLA.

What sector clients say

Operators who'd recommend us.

"Maundy Clean has handled our 350,000 sq ft DC for four years. Night-shift aisle-by-aisle protocol is genuinely throughput-neutral. Spill response is 12 minutes on average. Peak season surge was seamless. The SLA reporting is the cleanest I've seen in 20 years of logistics."
James Hamilton
Operations Director
Score Group Distribution, Dunfermline
"MHE-aware operation is genuinely MHE-aware. Crews in Class 3 hi-vis, pedestrian segregation respected, scrubber-dryers with beacons and reversing alarms. HSE inspections pass without cleaning-related findings. Slip incidents down 80% since they started."
Karen MacLeod
HSE Manager
Caledonian Logistics Hub, Bellshill
"Cold storage cleaning is specialist work. Maundy Clean's crews are trained, equipped, and GDP-compliant. Our pharmaceutical customer audits pass without cleaning-related findings. The temperature logging discipline is exemplary."

Frequently asked

Logistics & Warehousing — the questions we hear most.

Our night-shift-dominant model is the answer. Aisles are cleaned one at a time, with documented re-opening protocols — typically an aisle is closed for 30–45 minutes while the floor is machine-scrubbed and dried. We coordinate with shift managers on MHE charging windows to minimise disruption. High-traffic areas (dock doors, main aisles) are cleaned during the lowest-throughput window (typically 2am–5am).
